Fine art sketches

Graphite on Strathmore Toned Tan Paper

These gentle, flowing, intimate figure drawings created by Amrta are an exploration into her private life as a female and a female artist and the strangeness of the idea of time passing. Each sketch seems to be moving and stretching across the paper, never fully resting in place. The sketches also have elements that are left unfinished, secret, and hidden. This series is an intimate look at Amrta’s view on the private life of an artist, the beauty of solitude, the fragility of each moment, and the beauty and freedom of sensuality, all wrapped in the Buddhist concept of three thousand realms in a single moment of life; that a single moment of life includes three thousand realms, or the entire phenomenal world, exist in a single moment of life. Thus, three thousand realms in a single moment of life is a teaching of hope and transformation. We can at each moment choose, renew our hope, and be reborn. Some of these originally were created as academic studies/atelier studies and Amrta has since chosen to show them to exhibit all the angles of the artistic process.
